Uncaged Trailer Unleashes Terrifying Sharks from Hell

We have a brand new trailer for 47 Meters Down: Uncaged. This falls squarely in the very specific horror sub-genre of shark movies. The most famous example being Steven Spielberg's unparalleled classic Jaws. Many other movies featuring the giant, sharp-toothed sea dwellers have been made over the years of varying quality. In this case, we have a sequel to one that quite a few horror fans seemed to agree wasn't half bad. Whether or not this improves upon its predecessor remains to be seen, but hey, the trailer sure does feature some terrifying sharks.

This is very much just a teaser, but we get a good enough idea of how this is all going to go down. A group of girls is going on an adventure in a tropical paradise. They decide to go somewhere secluded and a bit scary and it turns out to be scarier than expected, mostly because of sharks. The trailer has something of a claustrophobic vibe to it, as it involves scuba diving in some underwater ruins. The giant sharks, also, for what it's worth, look really menacing. Oddly, it almost feels like an underwater version of The Descent in some ways, only with real creatures instead of crazy cave monsters.

Another interesting notable highlight from the trailer is the debut of both Corinne Foxx and Sistine Stallone. They are headlining the movie and if those last names sound very familiar, it's because they are the daughters of Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx and Rocky franchise star Sylvester Stallone, respectively. Unfortunately, because this is just a teaser and it focuses heavily on the action and scares, we don't get a great feel for what they're going to be able to bring to the table just yet. The rest of the cast includes John Corbett, Nia Long, Sophie Nelisse, Brianne Tju, Davi Santos, Khylin Rhambo and Brec Bassinger.

47 Meters Down: Uncaged centers on four teen girls who decide to go scuba diving in a ruined underwater city. Unfortunately, in a hurry, they find themselves in a bad situation as their fun outing turns into a horrifying one when they discover they are not alone in the submerged caves. As they swim deeper into the claustrophobic labyrinth of caves, they swim right into territory occupied by the deadliest shark species in the ocean.

In addition to the trailer, the studio has also released a pretty intense poster, which takes a cue from the classic Jaws poster, that we've included below. Johannes Roberts, who helmed the first movie, returns to the director's chair for the sequel. 47 Meters Down, released in 2017, proved to be a solid hit, as it earned $53 million at the global box office, working from a budget of just $5.5 million. 47 Meters Down: Uncaged is set to hit theaters on August 16.
